Seven people were injured in a two-boat collision on the Missouri River late Saturday night.

The extent of the injuries "probably ranged from 'treated and released' to requiring further medical attention," chief game warden Bob Timian said Thursday, adding that the accident remains under investigation.

Nine people, all adults, were aboard the two boats, two on a 45-foot pontoon house boat and the others in an 18-foot boat.

Alcohol was present, Timian said, referring other questions to the Morton County state's attorney, who is handling the case. State's Attorney Allen Koppy was out of town Thursday and unavailable for comment.

The accident happened at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, a time when NDGFD was running extra patrols on the river.

Game wardens were on the scene within minutes, Timian said.

Passengers, some in the water, were helped aboard the house boat and transported by game wardens to shore, where they were met by personnel from Metro Ambulance, the Highway Patrol and Mandan police, Timian said.

"It's probably one of the worst accidents we've had on the river, as far as a direct boating accident," Timian said.
