A Mandan man has been charged with terrorizing for allegedly swinging a knife at another man.

Brad Thurman, 36, was charged with the Class C felony Friday. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to five years in prison and fines of up to $5,000.

South Central District Judge Donald Jorgensen set bond for Thurman at $1,500 cash or surety Friday afternoon at the Morton County Courthouse. Jorgensen also prohibited Thurman from contacting the alleged victim or from possessing "destructive devices" such as guns or knives.

Mandan Police Lt. Chris Miller said officers were called to a Mandan apartment building around 8:40 p.m. Thursday for a report of a man being threatened with a knife.

An 18-year-old man reported Thurman had come up to him and asked where another person was, Miller said. He said the 18-year-old man pointed the man in a direction.

Miller said the 18-year-old reported Thurman was angry when he returned and swung a knife at him. Thurman did not hit him with the knife, but the 18-year-old said Thurman punched him several times in the head, Miller said.
