Guest artists from three North Dakota universities will perform Friday during the Opus Concert by Mandan High School's Jazz Ensemble I.

Percussionist Scott Prebys and trombonist Dave Lambert, both of the University of Mary, will perform, as will trumpeter Ronnie Ingle of the University of North Dakota and saxophonist Matthew Patnode of North Dakota State University.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Mandan High School Auditorium. Tickets are $8.

Prebys is director of percussion and jazz studies at the University of Mary, where he is associate professor of music and chairman of the music department. Prebys also directs the U-Mary Percussion Group and Steel Drum Band.

Lambert was a 1999 Downbeat Award winner, a two-year participant in the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead program at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and has been published in The Instrumentalist magazine. He serves as assistant professor of music at U-Mary.

Ingle, an assistant professor of music at UND, where he serves as teacher of trumpet and director of jazz ensemble, has been a professional trumpeter for more than 20 years.

Patnode, a concert and jazz saxophonist, is associate professor of saxophone and jazz studies at NDSU.
