VALLEY CITY - A collision involving two semis on icy Interstate 94 west of here backed up traffic for miles early Tuesday, the Highway Patrol said. One person was reported dead.
Authorities said one semi was parked along the highway about 16 miles west of Valley City, and another semi apparently had slowed to help when it skidded into the first semi about 6 a.m.
One of the semis wound up in the ditch and the other wound up across the eastbound lane of the interstate. The patrol was working to reopen at least one lane at midmorning.
A snow advisory was out for eastern North Dakota through the morning. Wahpeton reported about 3 inches Tuesday morning, and Fargo had 2 inches.

The National Weather Service said Bismarck set a record with 3.4 inches of snow on Monday, about an inch more than the record set in 1932.
