MINOT (AP) - A year after they received a new home via ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," Bill and Michelle Bliven say they are still living a dream.

"We haven't changed anything, and I don't plan on changing anything," Michelle Bliven said. "It didn't take long, I don't think, to feel like home."

The show finds a deserving family and builds them a new home in seven days. While the Blivens were sent on a Disney Cruise, nearly 4,000 volunteers from across North Dakota built the family a wheelchair-accessible home.

The Blivens' son Aaron, 15, has cerebral palsy, and the spaciousness and technology in the new house have made it "so much easier" to move him around, Michelle Bliven said.

In their old house with its narrow doors and hallways, Michelle had to carry Aaron everywhere. Her days of sleeping in his room also are gone: the new seizure alarm system in Aaron's room works well and alerts Michelle when Aaron needs her, she said.

Taylor Bliven, 14, has a pirate-themed room. Kristen Bliven, 19, decided to stay at home in her new chic room instead of moving into the Minot State University dorms.

"Every one of us got our dream," their mother said.

Bill and Michelle Bliven praised the landscaping work done by North Dakota State University students and said it was "a shame" their work didn't make it on the 42-minute TV show.

"They really put their heart into it," Bill Bliven said. "Their work really looks nice this year."

The couple said there is still a lot of interest in their home, with people driving by to see it. Strangers have even come up to the door, and a pizza deliveryman "accidentally" went to their house to try to see inside.

"I think that's almost funny still after a year," Michelle Bliven said.
