A Minot educator was chosen to replace Scott Halverson at South Central High School. Keith Bjornson was chosen as the new principal for South Central High School and director of the Adult Learning Center in Bismarck. He will take over for Halverson, who is retiring at the end of the school year.

Bjornson was selected from six people interviewed for the job. He was selected by a committee of teachers, administrators and a student. Bjornson has a master's degree in educational administration from North Dakota State University. He has been in education since 1975, and started Central Campus East, an alternative education program for ninth- and 10th-graders, in 1999.

Halverson, who will retire in June, has been with Bismarck Public Schools since 1997. Before that, he was principal at St. Mary's Central High School.
