Bismarck police have arrested two men for unrelated domestic aggravated assaults involving attempted strangulation.

Christopher Michael Franco, 19, was charged Friday with Class C felony aggravated assault. He was arrested Thursday night for an assault that occurred earlier that day.

South Central District Judge Robert Wefald set bond for Franco at $1,000 cash or surety. He also signed an order prohibiting Franco from contacting the alleged victim.

John Richardson, 42, was charged Friday with Class C felony aggravated assault for an early Friday morning assault.

Wefald set bond for Richardson at $1,500 cash or surety. He also signed an order prohibiting him from contacting the alleged victim.

Franco, of Fort Yates, was arrested at 8:50 p.m. Thursday. His girlfriend, a 20-year-old Bismarck woman, told police she and Franco began fighting at her southwest Bismarck home when she asked him to feed their daughter at around 11:30 a.m., Lt. Randy Ziegler said.

The woman said Franco put her in a strangle hold. She had swelling beneath her eye, a cut on her lip and pain on the right side of her rib cage, Ziegler said.

Richardson, of Bismarck, was arrested early Friday morning at a southeast Bismarck home. Police were called to the home at 2:14 a.m.

Richardson's 41-year-old girlfriend said they began arguing after Richardson accused her of sleeping with another man, and the argument became physical, Ziegler said.

He said officers noticed redness around the woman's neck, and she had two black-and-blue marks under her eyes.

Richardson had no visible injuries and was arrested at the scene.
