FARGO (AP) - Gov. John Hoeven has proclaimed Tuesday as "Happy Hooligans Day," in honor of the 60th anniversary of the North Dakota Air National Guard.
In conjunction with the proclamation, the Fargo-based 119th Fighter Wing of the Air National Guard, nicknamed the "Happy Hooligans," will host a ceremony at their air base by observing the final flights of the historic F-16 aircraft and the official presentation of C-21 transport aircraft.
The F-16s are being replaced with a dual mission, including unmanned aerial vehicles and C-21s. The 119th Fighter Wing will now be known as the 119th Wing, but the unit will keep its Happy Hooligans nickname.
Four F-16s are scheduled to depart Fargo following the ceremony at 11:15 a.m. and are scheduled to fly over the state Capitol building in Bismarck at approximately 12:45 p.m.
