Hettinger - Shelley's annual safety day for kids ages 5 through 8 will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 28 at Mirror Lake Park in Hettinger. Shelley will provide instruction on fire, water and bike safety, and seat belt simulator and car seat safety checks will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Bowman County - Bowman County residents will go to the polls June 13 to decide whether to renew a 1 percent city sales tax that has been supporting local health care facilities since it was first approved by voters in 1994. If approved, the tax will continue until 2012. If not, it will expire in December.

Twin Buttes - The Twin Buttes Elementary School will provide free meals to children from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 12 through Aug. 3. The meals are provided through the USDA Summer Food Service Program. Anyone with questions can contact the school. Also, the Dunn Center Public Library will hold a workday starting at 9 a.m. Saturday. Hands are needed to move books, paint walls inside and outside the library and other projects. Linton - The seventh annual Jodi Jahner-Mosset Memorial Scholarship golf tournament will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Linton Country Club.

Carson - The Grant County Soil Conservation District will sponsor two students between ages 13 to 18 to range camp, June 13-June 16, at the Logging Camp Ranch near Amidon. For information, call 622-3381 by today. The camp fee is $110, but campers will have to provide their own transportation. Also, an alumni football game featuring the Panthers vs. the Dutchmen will be held at 7:15 p.m. Friday at the Elgin football field. Cost is $5 for adults and $4 for students. The game is sponsored by the Elgin Park Board.

Mott - Mott wants tractor lovers and people who enjoy community celebrations to save the date of Aug. 26. That day, the town will put on a display of pedal tractors, a tractor parade and give people an opportunity to see the Schaible John Deere collection before it's sold at auction. A carp fishing tournament, corn on the curb and other events also are planned.

Watford City - The Rugged West Relay for Life will hold its fifth cancer fundraising event, starting at 5:30 p.m. June 16 at Fridley Field in Watford City. The food is free and is followed by an opening ceremony at 7 p.m., a luminary service at 9:45 p.m. and a closing ceremony at 6 a.m. June 17. The nightlong event will include games, cancer survivor stories, entertainment and a talent show until dawn. A breakfast and worship service will conclude the annual show of support for cancer victims.

Washburn - A meeting to help voters decide whether to support construction of a new county jail near the courthouse in Washburn will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Washburn City Hall. County residents will vote June 13 to allow the county to proceed with construction of a $3.5 million Class 1 facility that can hold prisoners for up to one year.

Hazen - The Hazen Chamber of Commerce will host a social from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lewis and Clark RV park comfort building. A meal of brats, hot dogs and hamburgers will be served, and the event will be used to raise funds for the Paul Weiser Memorial Park in Hazen. Also, a benefit will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. June 14 at Riverside Park in Beulah to benefit Chris Vettel, a 2005 Beulah High School graduate who is being treated for leukemia. The Carnival for Chris will have games for kids, bingo, a pie toss, silent auction and grilled food. A freewill donation will be taken. Anyone with questions can call 873-2562.

Glen Ullin - A reenactment of the 7th Cavalry will make camp at the Glen Ullin Saddle Club's arena near Glen Ullin tonight, including 11 riders in full authentic dress. The riders will reach the arena in mid-afternoon and the saddle club will provide refreshments at 5 p.m. The public is invited to share an evening of history.

New Town - The Three Affiliated Tribes business council passed a resolution in April requiring that any convicted sex offender must register with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Fort Berthhold Law Enforcement Agency. Failure to register is a Class A misdemeanor.
