Adams County - The Adams County inert landfill will open for the season at 8 a.m. April 7. Hours will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

Ellendale - The comedy "After Hours" will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday in the lower level of the Fireside Steakhouse and Lounge in Ellendale. Proceeds from the theater will go toward the Coleman Memorial Museum in Ellendale.

Halliday - A legislative forum will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Halliday City Hall, with District 4 House and Senate officials on hand to talk with locals about legislative issues. A freewill supper will be served.

Linton - A mother whose son died of binge drinking on his 21st birthday will give a public presentation at 4 tonight at the Emmons County Courthouse in Linton. The public is invited, especially parents of young children.

Golva - The Golva Fire Department will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Golva Bar meeting room. Beach - Registration for the 2007-08 kindergarten session will be held at the school Wednesday. Parents are asked to bring their child's birth certificate, Social Security number and immunization records. Call 872-4253 for an appointment.

Carson - An Easter egg hunt will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Carson City Park for children ages 9 and under. Kids should bring a basket and plan to play games with the Easter bunny. A sign will be posted at the park to inform folks of a new location in case of bad weather. The Carson Women's Club is sponsoring the event.

HETTINGER

Regent - The annual meeting of the Hettinger County Township Officers Association will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Regent Cafe. Mott - A public meeting will be held at 3 p.m. April 5 at the Hettinger County Courthouse in Mott. The county commissioners want to talk about whether this 100th year of the county's existence should be the occasion to open a copper box, located under the courthouse cornerstone, so a new history box could be started. If not, the next occasion would be the 125th in 2034.

KIDDER

Steele - Medcenter One Golden Manor will host its annual Easter egg hunt, and the Steele Area Betterment Group is asking for donations of plastic eggs and candy and treats to fill them. Anyone who wants to donate to the event should take items to the manor by Friday. The hunt will be held April 3.

Napoleon - Napoleon's 125th anniversary committee will hold a community meeting at 7:30 tonight at the Napoleon City Hall. The meeting will include committee reports and a presentation from Streeter representatives on how that community's celebration was handled. Napoleon's party will be June 11 through June 14.

Wishek - Food distributions from the Wishek Food Pantry will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the pantry, located in the back of the Wishek Senior Citizen building. Anyone who needs food is asked to bring his or her own bags or boxes.

Underwood - Underwood's only grocery store, the Family Store, will close Saturday, and a half-off sale is in progress. The owners haven't commented on their reasons. Michelle and Mark Driessen bought the store in October 2004 after it had been closed for six months. The store had a 40-year history of being owned by the Radke family, who were affiliated with Fairway Foods. Washburn - A breakfast for youth will be served from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Edwin's Catholic Church in Washburn. A freewill offering will be taken for pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausage.

Hazen - The fourth annual Great Escape will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Hazen City Hall. The event is billed as an elegant wine tasting event, coupled with a silent and live auction.
