Woman finds blade in eatery food

A woman told police she discovered a blade in her food while dining at a Bismarck restaurant on Friday. Police spokesman Mark Buschena said the case has been forwarded to the city health inspector for review.

The 61-year-old woman, from Redmond, Wash., said she had nearly finished eating at T.G.I. Friday's when she found the blade at the bottom of her plate. Buschena said the blade was half an inch wide and 11/2 inches long, and apparently came from a food dicer.

Health inspector Mel Fischer said Tuesday that he hadn't yet seen the paperwork on the incident. He said his office will review the report and talk to restaurant management and the woman who said she found the blade. The Tribune left a message for the restaurant manager, but didn't receive a response.

"We'll try to get as much information as we can from both the individual affected, as well as the facility,"Fischer said. "We'll find out how that knife or blade or whatever it is got to where it was."

Fischer said that type of restaurant equipment should be inspected each time it's taken apart for cleaning. His office doesn't have the authority to levy fines, but can make recommendation's to the city's board of health.
