Local public health agencies are offering health screenings in April.

Bismarck-Burleigh County Health is offering free blood pressure and tuberculosis testing Friday on a walk-in basis. Other walk-in services, available for a fee, include blood sugars for $6, fasting glucose and cholesterol screening for $20, flu shot for $20 and a tetanus booster. The fee for the tetanus booster depends on the type of booster a person chooses, either with or without the pertussis vaccine. The booster with pertussis is $75 and the one without is $20. The health department will discuss the differences and reasons for choosing one over the other with the person before deciding.

Custer County Health in Mandan is offering a fasting lipid profile April 25. The cost is $20 and the fingerstick test includes HDL and triglycerides. Results are immediate. People must pre-register for the fasting lipid profile screening, and space is limited. Preregistration is completed by calling 667-3370. People who participate in this screening should not eat anything and drink only water 12 hours before the test. No alcohol should be drunk within the three days before the test, or it will affect test results.

Blood sugar tests are available for $2 at Custer County Health.
