A police squad car was involved in a wreck late Friday night.

Bismarck Police Lt. Randy Ziegler said an officer in a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria was northbound on Ninth Street at 11:21 p.m. en route to a medical emergency. The squad car's lights and sirens were going, he said.

Another vehicle, which had been traveling east on Broadway, turned north onto Ninth Street. The officer swerved to avoid a collision with the car and instead struck a light pole on Broadway, Ziegler said.

He said damages to the squad car were estimated at $8,000. The officer received treatment for injuries at St. Alexius, then returned to finish his shift, Ziegler said.
