Mandan police are investigating a wreck that sent three teenagers to the hospital and a camper through a garage.
Sgt. Jason Bier said officers were called to the 3200 block of Twin City Drive at 10:13 a.m. Thursday for an injury accident and a vehicle on fire.
The vehicle was smoldering but was not on fire when officers arrived on scene, Bier said. He said the 18-year-old man driving was taken to the hospital with injuries, as were the passengers, a 15-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy.
Bier did not know the extent of the three teenagers' injuries, but he said the 13-year-old boy was still in the hospital as of Thursday afternoon. The girl had been released, and he was unsure the status of the driver.
According to witnesses, the car was westbound on Twin City Drive. One witness said the car was going 65 to 70 mph, though police have not confirmed those speeds, Bier said.
The vehicle hit a dip in the road, and the front end of the car came off the roadway, Bier said witnesses reported. The driver lost control, and the car slammed into a fifth-wheel camper trailer parked on the street.
Bier said the force of the collision propelled the trailer through the front wall of the garage of the home where it had been parked.
The crash is still under investigation, Bier said. He said the use of alcohol is not suspected. He expects charges related to the crash to be filed following the investigation.
