A metal pole in a Bismarck park helped police catch a Wisconsin man accused of trespassing in Hillside Pool.

Lt. Dan Donlin said a 22-year-old Menomonie, Wis., man was treated at St. Alexius for a head injury after police found him in Hillside Park early Saturday morning.

Donlin said police received a report at 1:45 a.m. Saturday of people trespassing at Hillside Pool. Several people fled from the area of the pool when police arrived, he said.

Officers found the Wisconsin man in the park, and he told them he had run into a metal pole while fleeing police, Donlin said.

The man was described by officers as "friendly, cooperative and respectful," according to a police report.

Police arrested the man for violation of park closing hours after he was treated at the hospital, and he was released after posting bond, Donlin said.

He said police do not know why the man was in Bismarck, and no one else was caught in the incident.
