Police are looking for two suspects they say may have attempted to rob a Bismarck hotel early Sunday morning.

Lt. Doug Ketterling, of the Bismarck Police Department, said the two men tried to enter the Expressway Suites at 5:08 a.m. Sunday, but were turned away by the desk clerk. The clerk told police it looked like one of the men was carrying a gun. He said they wore blue bandannas to cover their faces, and each wore a black hooded sweatshirt, with the hoods pulled up.

Ketterling said the suspects fled after the clerk denied them entrance to the lobby from the locked entryway. They appeared to take off on foot east on Bismarck Expressway, the police report said.

According to the report, the suspects were American Indians, each about 5 feet, 5 inches to 5 feet, 7 inches tall. One of the suspects weighed about 150 pounds, and the other 170.

"Normally people don't attempt to enter a business with a mask on their face, a gun in their hand, looking for a room,"Ketterling said. "I'm sure they were attempting to get some money."

A woman who answered the phone at the hotel Sunday afternoon said the business had no comment on the situation.
