Medora - "Burnin' Up the Badlands," an appreciation night for the Billings County Rural Fire Department, will be held Nov. 1 at the Medora Community Center, starting with a 5:30 p.m. social. Emmons County - The Emmons Country Soil Conservation District will hold a cover crop tour from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, starting at Al Meier's N Building Mix. The tour will look at cover plots and an irrigated corn and turnip crop. A meal at the Blue Room in Strasburg is included, and Jay Fuhrer will talk about soil health and cover crops. Lunch will be served at the noon meeting, and snacks and dessert at the afternoon and evening sessions.
