ADAMS - Hettinger - A healthy heart screening for $40 will be offered from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday at West River Health Services in Hettinger. Dodge - Dodge will host its 41st annual Country Western Talent Show at 7 p.m. March 15 in the Dodge auditorium. The show is open to all vocal and instrumental performers, and $400 in cash prizes will be awarded. Contestants can call 983-4479, or 846-7531. A dance will be held afterward, and a fleischkuechle supper will be served from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Dodge City Hall.

Linton - The Emmons County Crops Improvement Association and the county extension office will co-host a herbicide update at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the KEM Electric Cooperative meeting room in Linton. Richard Zollinger will discuss herbicide resistant weeds and use of herbicides in a crop rotation. A free lunch will be served, and anyone interested in attending can call 254-4811 to help with the lunch count.

Elgin - The Elgin City Council will meet in special session at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the city hall council room to discuss loan closing. The regular meeting of the council will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday. Also, June Sprenger will teach four painting classes starting at 7 p.m. Thursday and subsequent Thursdays through March 27. New England - Hunter safety classes will begin from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the New England High School and continue for the required number of hours. The class is open to anyone age 11 or older. Watford City - The state Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. March 13 at the Watford City Hall to talk about planned improvements on Highway 85 from eight miles north of Grassy Butte across the Little Missouri River, including the Long X Bridge.
