The Morton County Soil Conservation District is organizing an ag waste systems tour beginning at 12:30 p.m. CDT Sept. 29.
Those participating will leave the Mandan Service Center at 2540 Overlook Lane. The first stop is at the John and Gloria Steckler Ranch northwest of St. Anthony. The tour continues at the Holly family's Northern Lights Dairy north of St. Anthony on Highway 6.
Speakers include Karl Rockeman of the North Dakota Department of Health, Scott Ressler of the North Dakota Stockmen's Association, Jason Wirtz of the North Dakota Department of Agriculture, Jim Leier of the Bank of North Dakota, Rachel Fast of the Morton County SCD and Shelly Doyle of the Morton County NRCS.
Tour stops feature feedlot and manure management systems of beef and dairy operations, presentations on technical and financial assistance available for ag waste systems, and North Dakota Department of Health regulations and permit requirements.
Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP by Sept. 18 by calling 667-1163, ext. 3. Depending on the number of responses, bus transportation may be provided.
