A Medcenter One College of Nursing student has been charged with terrorizing for allegedly making threats on the Internet against the school and other students.
Jodi Eichele, 21, was charged Monday with the Class Cfelony. South Central District Judge Gail Hagerty set bond for Eichele at $2,500 due to the serious nature of the alleged offense and Eichele's history of traffic offenses. She also prohibited Eichele from coming within 100 yards of the nursing college.
Eichele, a junior, has been accused of writing a message on Facebook that contained threats of locking people inside the college of nursing and burning the building down, Bismarck Police Lt. Randy Ziegler said.
A student reported the message, posted on Friday, to a faculty member, who reported it to the school dean, who reported it to police, Ziegler said. He said officers searched the school on Sunday and found nothing suspicious. Eichele was arrested at her home and booked into the Burleigh County Detention Center at 4 a.m. Monday.
Medcenter security decided to cancel classes and activities for Monday prior to the student being arrested, marketing director Marnie Walth said. Classes will resume today.
Eichele told Hagerty she carries a 4.0 grade point average and would like to take her final tests to finish her junior year. She said she understands not being allowed back on the college grounds.
