The International Restaurant on North 12th Street will be closing at the end of May, the former owners announced Friday.

The former owners, Sammi Wu and Harry Wu, sold the business to the owner of the building they were leasing, Sammi Wu said.

Wu said the business had not previously been for sale, but the owner offered to buy it at "a good price."

"We always say, 'everything for sale at the right price,'"Sammi Wu said.

Mike Boutrous, who purchased the business, Sammi Wu said, was not available for comment.

The business was sold about a week ago, and the restaurant will officially close on May 28. Sammi Wu said customers should use their gift certificates before then.

Sammi Wu said their 10 part-time employees were offered the opportunity to work at their other restaurant, the Rice Bowl in Mandan. They have no intention of closing the Rice Bowl, Sammi Wu said.

International Restaurant has been in that location for about 20 years, and the Mongolian Grill was added about 10 years ago. The Wu family bought it in 2005, Sammi Wu said.

She also said that they plan to open another restaurant somewhere in town, but plans for location and what type of restaurant have not been confirmed.

"But we'll definitely open another one in the future,"Sammi Wu said.
