Medora - Oilseed producers in Billings County can vote in the N.D. Oilseed Council election at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Community Center in Medora. Producers who planted oilseeds in 2006 or plan to in 2007 are eligible to vote.

Emmons County - A series of meetings called "Myth Busters of Central North Dakota Soils" will be held starting at 10 a.m. Jan. 16 and two subsequent Tuesdays at the Emmons County Courthouse auditorium. The meetings will be conducted on interactive video and will allow local producers to talk about soil types and misconceptions and issues like fertilizer and seed inoculants. Tuttle - A potluck dinner to help pay medical expenses for the Johnson triplets will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Blue Hall in Tuttle. Donations can be sent to Delila Larson, P.O. Box 163, Tuttle, 58488. The triplets were born prematurely at home and required medical help.

Wishek - A preliminary hearing will be held Jan. 22 at South Central District Court in Ashley for former Wishek school business manager Barb Malaski, who faces a Class B felony charge for allegedly stealing $63,000 from the school during a two-year period.

A pre-trial hearing will be held the same day for Wishek bar owner Michael Jacobson, who has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge for allegedly attacking his wife, Lenora, who was hospitalized afterward.

The contest is open to pre-registered contestants and judging will be held from 10 am. to 4 p.m. A steak and walleye dinner will be served starting at 5 p.m. Tickets are $12 at the door.

Fort Yates - To improve safety for Standing Rock Community Elementary School students, school officials have closed the street in front of the school to through traffic and parking as of Jan. 2. Visitors will use the parking lots on the west and east side of the building and violators will be cited.
