Bowman - A public meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Bowman City Hall to talk about a multiuse path to be constructed adjacent to Third Avenue in Bowman. Elgin - The annual meeting of the Jacobson Memorial Hospital Care Center will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Elgin Community Center. The meeting will include an election on bylaws, changing the hospital board from 12 members to nine.

Beulah - Beulah's preoccupation with fences gets into full swing this week with a special Smithsonian exhibit "Between Fences," on display at the Beulah City Hall. In addition, Beulah business will display specially decorated fences from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday during the community's holiday walks, followed by the grand opening of local artists' fences at 7 p.m. at the Solem building in downtown Beulah. The Smithsonian exhibit is sponsored by Beulah and the North Dakota Humanities Council.

Van Hook - The second annual Bite the Ice fishing tournament will be held Feb. 2 at Van Hook, southeast of New Town. Promoters will sell 600 tickets for $25, and the grand prize is a 2007 Arctic Cat UTV, with a largest walleye worth $1,000 cash. Tickets are available at city offices in both Parshall and New Town, and at business locations.

Center - The Center-Stanton school will hold its annual Christmas concert by students grades five through 12 at 7 p.m. Dec. 17 at the high school gym in Center. The school staff will sing along with the high school choir.

McClusky - The Sheridan County Weed Board will hold an informational meeting at 2 p.m. Dec. 20 in the Sheridan County Courthouse in McClusky to talk to landowners about a cost-share grant to spray for absinth worm wood, a noxious weed, on pasture and rangeland. Also, the Sheridan County courthouse officials and employees invite the public to a holiday open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the courthouse. People are invited to view the "village mountain."
