Beulah - Beulah's preoccupation with fences gets into full swing this week with a special Smithsonian exhibit "Between Fences," on display at the Beulah City Hall. In addition, Beulah business will display specially decorated fences from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday during the community's holiday walks, followed by the grand opening of local artists' fences at 7 p.m. at the Solem building in downtown Beulah. The Smithsonian exhibit is sponsored by Beulah and the North Dakota Humanities Council.

Van Hook - The second annual Bite the Ice fishing tournament will be held Feb. 2 at Van Hook, southeast of New Town. Promoters will sell 600 tickets for $25, and the grand prize is a 2007 Arctic Cat UTV, with a largest walleye worth $1,000 cash.
