'Angels of Hope' tea benefits foster youth

Charles Hall Youth Services will raise funds for at-risk youth in its foster care programs at its sixth annual "Angels of Hope" benefit tea Nov. 10.

The benefit is from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the Bismarck Elks Club, 900 S. Washington St. The emcee for the event is KXMB television anchor Lauren Kalberer. Guest speaker is Ariana Walker, Teen Miss State Capital, who will talk about underage and binge drinking among today's teens. Music will be provided by Vicki and the Boys, a jazz ensemble from Bismarck United Church of Christ.

The tea will feature a silent auction of 21-inch Studio Design dolls from the Robert Tonner Doll Co. of New York, as well as jewelry from two local jewelers. Local seamstress Sheila Hinkel sewed and donated six dresses for the dolls' wardrobes. Patty Traversie, an employee of Charles Hall Youth Services, sewed and donated an American Indian outfit, as well.

Tickets for the event are $5 in advance and $6.50 at the door. Advance tickets are available at all Dan's SuperMarkets in Bismarck and Mandan, Herberger's in Kirkwood Mall and at Charles Hall offices at 513 E. Bismarck Expressway, lower level. Guest are asked to bring stocking stuffers, if possible, to the event for distribution to foster care teens at Christmas. Refreshments will be served and door prizes awarded.

Coordinating the event is the Shades of Purple Goddesses Chapter of the Red Hat Society. Also helping is the Red Hot Bloomers Chapter of the Red Hat Society.

All proceeds will support the daily operations of Charles Hall's three foster care group homes for youth ages 12-17.
