Free presentation about back pain

Medcenter One neurosurgeon Dr. Thomas Spagnolia will be putting on a free "Doc Talk" presentation at the Medcenter One Outpatient Services Center on Aug. 27 at 7 p.m.

Spagnolia will explain how a spinal fusion could lessen back pain and what kind of person makes a good candidate for this surgery.

Brown & Saenger marks 120 years

Started in 1889, Brown & Saenger is in its 120th year of business.

Founded by Thomas Henderson Brown and Eugene Saenger, the business has grown to five locations in North Dakota and South Dakota.

The company started out making blank books for county offices. It has grown to selling office furniture, business products, promotional products and professional printing.

The company is run by its fifth president, Lyle D. Dabbart.

Corn Belt Power names board rep

The Corn Belt Power Cooperative voted Charlie Gilbert to represent the group on the Basin Electric Power Cooperative's board of directors.

Gilbert is a director for Midland Power Cooperative, headquartered in Jefferson, Iowa. He became a director on the Corn Belt Power board in 2000 and has served as treasurer since 2003. Gilbert has a bachelor of science degree in ag business.

Basin Electric voted to accept Corn Belt Power Cooperative as a Class A member of Basin Electric on Aug. 13. It will be effective as of Sept. 1. Gilbert was voted as a representative for them on Aug. 24.
