Assistants certified

Two employees at Dakota Eye Institute in Bismarck have recently become certified ophthalmic assistants.

Stacy Lelm and Brandy Chap were certified through the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology.

Similarly certified at DEI are Chris Lunn, Colette Sabot, Debra Hennagir, Terri Weigel, Jodi Gerving, Lori Turitto and Lisa Jorgensen.

Schumacher trains

Andrew Schumacher, a certified prosthetist/orthotist at Hanger Prosthetics and Orthotics, completed training in California for Walkaide, a technology in assistive devices that uses electronic stimulation to increase function of the foot. It is used to treat patients with drop-foot.

Markle cited

Scott Markle, with Northwest Contracting in Bismarck, won the Return on Investment Class Project award for his use of the Dale Carnegie principles to obtain significant, measurable results in his organization during the course he completed in Dickinson.

Glines recognized

North Dakota Guaranty & Title Co. has named Bonita Glines its employee of the month for November.

Glines is an accountant at Mandan Guaranty & Title.

Three join Bain

Karen Zahn, Hillary Groseclose and Rich E. Lahr have joined Bain Agency Inc., Bismarck.

Zahn, personal lines account manager, brings customer service and business management skills to the position.

Groseclose, commercial and transportation account manager, brings six years of account management skills, specializing in transportation exposures.

Lahr, commercial and transportation account executive, brings 16 years of commercial account executive experience to the position, specializing in transportation exposures.

Hutzenbiler honored

Rebecca Hutzenbiler, Dickinson, has won the highest award for achievement in the Dale Carnegie course she completed in Dickinson.

The recipient is chosen by class members.

Hutzenbiler, a graduate of Dickinson State University with a degree in business administration and accounting, is a human resources specialist with TMI Systems Design Corp. in Dickinson.

Boehm in new role

Tracy Boehm is now an accounting/budget specialist I in Student Loan Services at Bank of North Dakota.

Boehm has worked for BND for 19 years in the Treasury Services and Student Loan Services areas.

DU hires four

Randal Dell, Allan Janus, Lisa Irby and Carleen Soule recently joined the Ducks Unlimited Great Plains Regional Office in Bismarck, which supervises DU's conservation efforts in eight states.

Dell, a regional biologist-environmental markets, spent the last two years working at DU's national headquarters in Memphis, assisting in the development of DU's carbon sequestration program.

A native of Lansing, Mich., Dell graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor of arts in economics in 2004 and from Oregon State University with a master of science in agricultural and resource economics in 2006.

Janus, a remote sensing/GIS analyst, previously was the GIS coordinator for Brookings County in South Dakota.

He earned bachelor of science degrees in wildlife and fisheries science and in geographic information sciences from South Dakota State University, where he is completing his master's in geography.

Irby is manager of conservation services at the regional office in Bismarck.

She previously was assistant director of development-strategy for Washington State University's College of Business, Pullman. She also has worked in the energy and media industries, as well as having been an instructor at WSU.

Irby received a bachelor of science in business administration/accounting from Portland State University and a master's of business administration specializing in management information systems from WSU.

As a development assistant, Soule works with DU's development directors and major donors.

A Mandan native, Soule graduated from St. Cloud State University with a degree in biology. She worked with Coughlan Publishing in Minneapolis before coming to DU.

Strommen hired

The North Dakota Stockmen's Association has selected Sheyna Strommen of Dickinson as its next communications director.

Strommen succeeds Julie Schaff Ellingson, who will become executive vice president when Wade Moser retires in January.

Strommen brings a decade of marketing and communication experience, and most recently worked as marketing/communication coordinator for Fisher Industries of Dickinson.

Strommen is a 1999 graduate of North Dakota State University.

Field with firm

Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services Inc., which has an office in Bismarck, has hired Ted Field as a senior wastewater project manager in its Minneapolis office.

Originally from Mahtomedi, Minn., Field has more than 30 years of experience in the wastewater field and is a professional engineer in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois.

Schafer signs on

Christy Schafer was recently hired to the newly created position of logistics analyst for Cloverdale Foods Co.

Schafer brings 10 years of supply chain experience, as well as fleet management, project management and customer and carrier relations. She holds bachelor and master of science degrees in agricultural economics from North Dakota State University.

Schafer will develop standard operating procedures for the movement of product through the supply chain, manage carrier contracts and relationships, and analyze cost efficiencies of inbound and outbound transportation routes.

DeMott hired

David DeMott has joined Stan Puklich Chevrolet as business manager.

DeMott has more than 15 years of business management experience in the Bismarck-Mandan area.

Three attend

Debra Jans, Rita Keegan and Danielle Johs, financial associates with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans in Bismarck, attended the Women in Insurance and Financial Services national conference in Chicago.

The three are with Thrivent's Rocky Mountain Regional Financial Office.
