Volk awarded

Linda Lamey-Volk, a financial consultant with the local office of A.G. Edwards & Sons, Inc. has received the Broker of the Month Award in recognition of the exceptional level of service she provides her clients.

Sitter named

MDU Resources Group, Inc. has named Raylette Sitter records management coordinator. In her new position, she will be responsible for directing the effective and appropriate management of information and records at MDU Resources and its family of companies.

Prior to joining MDU Resources, Sitter worked at Basin Electric Power Cooperative for more than 13 years, working in records management for the last four. Sitter has a bachelor's degree in accounting and business management from the University of Mary.

Nimmo promoted

Basin Electric Power Cooperative promoted Eric Nimmo to the position of hardware maintenance assistant at its headquarters building in Bismarck, N.D. He began his new duties on Feb. 18, 2007, at the Cooperative.

The native of Cloquet, Minn., will graduate in April, 2007, from the University of Mary in Bismarck with bachelor's degrees in computer information systems and business administration. Nimmo was previously employed as a student intern at Basin Electric in Information Services and Telecommunications.

Pierce certified

Dr. Troy Pierce, MD, of The Bone & Joint Center successfully passed the Combined Hand and Orthopaedic Surgery Recertification Exam, fulfilling all of the recertification requirements of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery requires orthopaedists to maintain their Board Certification by recertifying every ten years.

Three hired

Nate Swenson recently joined the Applied Engineering team in Bismarck as a systems administrator. He has his Bachelor of Science in computer information systems and business administration and completed his MBA from the University of Mary.

Michael Banks has joined the Applied Engineering team in Bismarck as an application developer. He has his Bachelor of Arts degree in computer science from Jamestown College.

Cody Nelson has joined the Applied Engineering team in Bismarck as an IT intern. He is currently in the process of completing his computer information system degree from Bismarck State College.

Felchle certified

Deanne Felchle, Group Travel marketing director with North Dakota Department of Commerce Tourism Division, successfully completed the course requirements to earn her Certified Travel Industry Specialist (CTIS) designation from American Bus Association (ABA).

To receive this certification, Felchle completed five correspondence courses over the past year and attended and evaluated eight Industry Advancement Seminars presented at the American Bus Marketplace.

Mattern hired

St. Alexius Medical Center is pleased to announce that it has hired Dean Mattern, former CEO of UniMed Medical Center in Minot, as the new administrator for Garrison Memorial Hospital and Community Memorial Hospital in Turtle Lake.

Mattern replaces former administrator Dennis Goebel, who left recently to assume the position of administrator at Mercy Medical Center in Williston.

Mattern is a graduate of Moorhead State University in Minnesota with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He also holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks.

Zerr awarded

Pam Zerr, Lakewood, CO, was voted by the National Sales & Implementation Consultants as Gambro BCT's 2006 Clinical Support Specialist of the Year. She received this award for consistent exceptional customer support, training, troubleshooting and follow-through on issues.

Zerr, formally of Bismarck, is the daughter of Edna & the late Robert Zerr.

Bauer accepts position

Heidi Bauer has accepted a position as customer service/call center representative at Starion Financial. She will help customers with banking needs from the centralized service center in the Mandan bank. This center assists customers who bank with Starion at seven North Dakota locations and a new Madison, Wisc., location.

Bauer has extensive experience in bank customer service. Since 2003, she had served as a teller at the bank's south Bismarck location and was promoted to lead teller there in 2004.

Conference attended

Bismarck-based architect Don Barsness, EAPC Architects Engineers, represented North Central states at the American Institute of Architects Grassroots Legislative and Leadership Conference in Washington D.C. this month to urge lawmakers to adopt aggressive energy efficiency requirements for federal buildings.

Barsness was installed to serve a three-year term on the national AIA board of directors at a gala event at the Kennedy Center in December. In conjunction with his appointment, Barsness will also serve on two standing committees of the board: the Finance and Audit Committee and the Component Partnerships Committee, the latter of which works to strengthen the relationship between the national organization and its local chapters.

Voss honored

Century 21 Morrison announced that Century 21 Real Estate LLC recently recognized Shirley Voss, sales associate with the office, as on of the System's top producers nationwide when honored her with the coveted Ruby level Century 21 Masters Award.

Seminar attended

Corey Hager and Mindy Piatz, CPA's with Brady Martz & Associates, P.C. recently attended a Small Business Audits seminar in Grand Forks. This seminar covered auditing areas such as balancing risk, effectiveness and efficiency in today's world. Mr. Hager and Ms. Piatz are CPA's with Brady, Martz where their main focus is governmental and non-profit auditing.

Knudson reappointed

Dave Knudson, a registered nurse with Medcenter One's Q&R Clinic, was recently reappointed regional director of Us TOO! prostate cancer support groups. His region includes eight support groups throughout North and South Dakota. As regional director, Knudson serves as a resource for the support groups and organizes prostate cancer awareness activities.

Us TOO! is a grassroots organization started in 1990 by prostate cancer survivors to serve patients and other survivors, their spouses/partners and families.

Knudson has been with Medcenter One for 29 years.

Young speaks

Chris Young, founder of The Rainmaker Group, spoke at an international gathering of TTI® assessment distributors recently in Phoenix, AZ.

Young shared with his TTI® peers how The Rainmaker Group dramatically increased profits and reduced turnover at a Chicago company by assessing its team member's strengths and growth opportunities and using that information to restructure duties and responsibilities of 25 team members in a customer service/sales department.

Attendees of the conference came together to share best practices techniques in using Trimetrix® assessments, discuss various product updates, and share their individual knowledge and experiences with using TTI assessments.

Two attend

Dr. Lynne Peterson, a rheumatologist with Medcenter One, and Dr. Greg Peterson, a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician with Medcenter One, recently attended the Mayo Clinic update on low back pain, diagnosis and management.

Canham recertified

Dr. William Canham, an orthopedic surgeon at Medcenter One, recently earned recertification from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Canham is also certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Canada. He attended medical school at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia. He has a special medical interest in total joint replacement.

The ABOS establishes educational standards for orthopedic surgeons and evaluates initial and continuing qualifications and knowledge of orthopedic surgeons.

Krebsbach promoted

Andrea Stomberg, vice president, electric supply for Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. announced that Abbie Krebsbach has been promoted to environmental manager for the company. Krebsbach has been with Montana-Dakota for three years in the environmental department. She will continue to support the power plant and division operations' environmental compliance efforts, as well as contribute to strategic planning for Montana-Dakota.

Four hired

Four new employees have joined the Mandan-based National Information Solutions Cooperative (NISC), an information technology company that develops and supports software and hardware solutions for utility cooperatives and telecommunications companies across the nation.

Curt Mildenberger of Bismarck was recently hired for the position of Member Relationship Representative in the Business Development and Marketing division.

Kiran Kattakindi of Bismarck has also joined NISC as a Software Specialist in the Research, Development & Quality division. Kattakindi will be responsible for the development of new software applications and processes, as well as software enhancement.

Becky Haakenson of Bismarck has also joined NISC as a Support Specialist in the Telecom Solutions division. Haakenson will be providing customer support to users of NISC's Subscriber Information System billing software.

NISC has also added Timothy Baldwin to the Telecom Solutions division. Baldwin was hired for the position of Support Associate and will be responsible for the installation and support of the telecom software. He will also provide software training and assist with support inquiries.

CEO named

Gruby Technologies announced that its board of directors has named Mark Rheault to serve as the company's chief executive officer and president.

Raymond Gruby, chairman of Gruby Technologies board of directors, has assumed the role of chief operating officer for the company.

Einrem awarded

Jennifer Einrem, P.E. has been named the ND National Society of Professional Engineers (NDSPE) 2007 Outstanding Young Engineer. Einrem is the airports group planning coordinate at Kadrmas, Lee & Jackson and monitors all planning and environment projects within the group. She obtained bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from the South Dakota Schools of Mines and Technology and has been a part of KL&J since 2001.

This award recognizes an outstanding young engineer who is a member of the NDSPE.

Sebelius awarded

Kristy Sebelius was recently awarded the February employee of the month award for Dakota Eye Institute.

Sebelius has been employed at Dakota Eye Institute for one year as an optician. She was nominated because of her caring nature and efforts to go the extra mile. Sebelius made a personal visit to the home of a terminally ill cancer patient to measure her for glasses. Upon returning to the office, Sebelius wanted to personally pay for the glasses. Dakota Eye Institute offered the glasses to the patient at no charge.

Grube promoted

Capital Credit Union has promoted Kimberly Grube to Financial Services Officer. She has been with the company for more than seven years. She is located at the Mandan branch at 600 E. Main.

Drengson hired

eLendingNow has recently employed Cindy Drengson as a Mortgage Officer for their Bismarck Office. She will assist clients in financing the home of their dreams or refinancing their existing home.

Drengson is a Strasburg, ND native has over six years of experience in the mortgage industry specializing in relationship building with a high level of customer service.

Vallely re-elected

The Marine Retailers Association of America (MRAA) has announced that John Vallely, Jr. of Vallely Sport & Marine, Bismarck, North Dakota has been re-elected as a national Director.

Vallely is the Director of Region 7 for MRAA. Region 7 encompasses four states - Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. This region represents 312 Marine Retailers.
