Bjorke hired as business reporter
Christopher Bjorke has been hired as the Bismarck Tribune's business reporter. Bjorke began work covering the Tribune's business beat on Tuesday.
Bjorke returns to Bismarck from Chicago, where he pursued freelance writing and editing work. He recently wrote about international economic and business topics for the Association for Financial Professionals in Bethesda, Md. His other writing experience includes reporting for the Times Leader of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and the Grand Forks Herald.
Bjorke grew up in Williston and Bismarck and graduated from Bismarck High School. After majoring in English and journalism at the University of North Dakota, he signed on as a reporter for the Herald just in time to help cover the 1997 Red River flood.
After earning a portion of the Herald's Pulitzer Prize for public service in 1998, Bjorke joined the Peace Corps and was sent to the former Soviet Republic of Moldova, where he taught English to local students and worked on other educational projects.
Bjorke can be reached at 250-8261 or chris.bjorke@;bismarcktribune.com.
