Finkielman accepts

Dr. Javier Finkielman, St. Alexius Medical Center, recently accepted the position of associate medical director-quality. Finkielman will help with quality and performance improvement projects including CMS core measures and working closely with the clinical effectiveness committee.

Finkielman is an intensivist who works primarily in the St. Alexius Intensive Care Unit.

Kautz joins

Reva Kautz has joined Edgewood Vista as the new marketing manager at Edgewood Village in Bismarck. She's responsible for promoting the Carefree Addition of Edgewood Village, including the new Edgewood Vista. Kautz has more than 10 years experience in the long-term care industry. A native of New Leipzig, she earned her undergraduate degree from North Dakota State University and her masters in business administration from the University of North Dakota.

Krueger hired

Olive Garden Italian Restaurant has appointed Mandan resident Cari Krueger as general manager of the new restaurant located at 3400 N. 14th St. in Bismarck. Krueger brings 13 years of restaurant industry experience to her new position. She has been with Olive Garden for more than four years, most recently as general manager of the Olive Garden in Oakdale, Minn.

Chairman appointed

Skip Duemeland, CCIM, of Bismarck, was appointed chairman of the Designation Committee of the CCIM Institute, the governing body of the largest commercial real estate network in the world, at business meetings held in Chicago.

Haustveit hired

United Printing hired Shayne Haustveit as accountant. His daily tasks include maintaining accounts receivable, processing invoices and developing new accounting procedures and systems. Haustveit received an accounting and business administration degree from the University of Mary. Previously, he worked as assistant manager and bookkeeper at North Country Inn and Suites and as assistant bookkeeper at Dreamland Homes, Minot.

Darras promoted

Pat Darras has been promoted to region manager for Montana-Dakota Utilities Co.'s Dakota Heartland Region and Great Plains Natural Gas. In his new role, Darras will provide strategic leadership and direction for the region's gas and electric distribution and service operations, which cover eastern North Dakota, eastern South Dakota and western Minnesota. Darras joined Montana-Dakota in 2002 and most recently was gas superintendent for the Dakota Heartland Region.

Simmers certified

Bob Simmers of Bismarck Aero Center has earned EAA's Young Eagles Flight Leader. This was accomplished recently as he reached the 50 mission mark. The Young Eagles Program is a program that gives airplane rides to youth in an attempt to expose them to the joys of aviation. These rides are free to those making proper application through the Experimental Aircraft Association's local chapter.

Practice opened

Dr. Carol L Krause recently opened her medical practice, Dakota Pain Management Center, in Bismarck at 705 E. Main Ave, Suite 300 in the Dakota Natural Health Center. She specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation and treats patients using traditional and alternative non-surgical techniques for acute and chronic pain.

Foss awarded

The North Dakota Optometric Association, at its 105th annual Congress in Bismarck, awarded Marie Foss of Drs. Schindler and Deis in Bismarck "Employee of the Year."

The NDOA awarded Foss in recognition of her outstanding service to the optometric profession.

Foss has been an employee of Drs. Schindler and Deis of Bismarck for 21 years.

Nine awarded

The North Dakota section of the American Water Works Association presented nine section members with an award for new or upgraded certification in the fields of water treatment and water distribution. Award recipients of water distribution certification include: Barry Arntz, Grand Forks; Eno J. Lien, Fargo; Bradley S. Rosel, Drake; William "Bill" Solis, Fargo; and Jason Sorenson, Minot. Recipients of water treatment certification include: Gary Fahrnkopf; Effie Miller, Williston; Joel R. Myhro, Devils Lake; Rosel, Drake; and Daniel Overmoe, Mayville.

Mitzel named

North Dakota Guaranty & Title Co. has named Tracy Mitzel as their employee of the month for October. Mitzel is an information technology manager, overseeing day-to-day corporate technology operations and assisting with sales and business development for ND Guaranty & Title Co. in Bismarck, Mandan Guaranty & Title Co., Minot Guaranty & Escrow and Dickinson Guaranty & Title Co.

One appointed

Mary Tello-Pool was recently appointed American Red Cross State Nurse Liaison for North Dakota by the American Red Cross national chair of nursing, Vivian Littlefield. The liaison provides support to the chapters in their efforts to recruit and retain health professionals and to build capacity for key services, such as disaster preparedness, response and community education under the auspices of the chief nurse and national nursing committee.

Crary hired

The Center for Neurological Services has hired Marianne McKittrick Crary, OTR/L, CHT, to provide therapy services at the clinic.Crary is a certified hand therapist with more than eight years of clinical experience and advanced education and training in the upper extremity. Crary specializes in treatment of the hand, wrist and elbow for traumatic injury or for over use syndromes.

Huseby recognized

The L.W. Barrett Co. of Denver recognized Bismarck resident Jack Huseby on his 30th anniversary in partnership with them. Huseby began his career Nov. 1, 1978, and services accounts in the Bismarck-Mandan area.

Lions named

Ten Bismarck Lions club members from five local clubs are among the 34 District 5NC cabinet members recently appointed by 5NC District Governor Graig Wollenburg, Rugby.

Local Lions named to the 5NC cabinet include Carla Bender, diabetes awareness chair and long-range planning co-chair; Bev Charles, zone 2A chair; Ross Espeseth, leadership chair and Vision USAchair; Brach Johnson, honorary and district 5 NC 2008 state convention co-chair; Marian Johnson, membership/women in Lions chair and District 5NC 2008 state convention co-chair; Bruce Schwartz, leader dog chair; JeAnne Selby, public relations co-chair; Lynell Thueson, region 2 chair; Tim Thueson, pin chair; and Dan Vondrachek, long range planning co-chair.

The Credit Collections Bureau announced Chris Gray is the collector of the month and Jeff Churchill is client services rep of the month for October.
