I find the upcoming election interesting, with the top concern of North Dakotans to be economic development and jobs. In discussions, I also find a similarity in the level of support for Gov. John Hoeven for another term. To me this comes as no surprise since Gov. Hoeven has dedicated a lifetime to economic development and job creation.

As a young person raising a family in this great state, North Dakota’s issue today isn’t creating jobs for people, but finding enough of the right people to fill the thousands of new jobs that have been created in the state. This growth is taking place across the board, in every industry sector.

I have taken interest in Gov. Hoeven’s leadership. Our fine state has grown in so many ways: to a diverse economy with more jobs, to a growing population and more young people staying in the state or even moving back as I did. Gov. Hoeven’s leadership has proven he absolutely has the leadership abilities to grow North Dakota’s economy and create jobs.

I have great confidence in Gov. Hoeven and believe the choice is pretty clear for North Dakotans who want to see this growth continue. I see him as more than just a governor, I see him as a proven leader who will continue to grow North Dakota’s economy and create even more jobs. I have nothing at stake in this election other than the future of myself and my children. Vote John Hoeven for Governor on Nov. 4.

" Come on now, Angela Plante, let's face reality! What good paying jobs can Hoeven brag about bringing into North Dakota that would have materialize whomever was the Governor of N.D. Let's give Hoeven credit for all the minimum wage jobs with NO benefits that have prospered since him term of Governor has begun. I am talking mostly restaurants and banks in Bismarck. Hoeven's record of "smoke & mirrors" is legendary throughout his past terms. The Legislature overrides most all his proposals for tax relief and other agendas he presents to the North Dakota citizens. He has NO clout with the N.D. Legislature. "

" To the writer, I do respect your opinion but I do disagree with you. As with the last writer Hoeven does his job well, if that job is being in every photo op, taking credit for many things he had nothing to do with, along with many other things. Myself, being a parent and a grandparent have also raised my family here as ND is an awesome place to do that. I have one son that lives in Las Vegas and will probably never see him as a resident of ND again. I have another son who lived in Las Vegas, moved back to ND so my other grandson could be raised around there grandparents. I am now helping them pack so they can move back to Las Vegas. When rent in Bismarck is as much as rent in Vegas and the wages are increased greatly and the opportunities are endless, even in a tough and slowing economy it is tough to keep them here. Nd has to rethink its way to get back to a position to build on our population, create more higher paying jobs, reduce property taxes and many other things ND will continue to send its best assets way, OUR KIDS.
If you listen to the media, John Hoeven is the best thing in ND. Well they are very wrong. 4 more years of Hoeven will not be good for ND. Only puts off ND growing into the future at a standstill for that period of time. We can do better. DuWayne Hendrickson "

" Let's look at some of the more hidden acheivements of john Hoeven. 1) He has turned north Dakota into the most socialist state in the US, 2) he has created a welfare state second to none with his corporate social and farm welfare, 3) created a bueracratic nightmare with DHS turning it into the largest cash cow in the history of North Dakota by naming an unqualified political crony to head it, 4) used his office for the politcial agendas of out of state corporations at the expense of all North Dakotans, 5) plotted an economic course that completely leaves rural North Dakotans out in the cold and forcing many to leave the state in search of better fortunes, and since Hoeven MUST be directly responsible for the oil boom, then he must also be directly responsible for the recently announced shut downs and layoffs at Bobcat, Pugsly and a host of other North Dakotan companies. Gee, can he take credit for the entire economic disaster this country is facing too? "

Its all Hoeven wrote on Oct 26, 2008 9:34 AM:

" Yes- its all thanks to Hoeven that there is oil being drilled in the Bakken. After all, how many pictures has he been in that show him in a hard hat out on a rig? That MUST mean he had something to do with it... And when they announced how rich that Bakken really is, that must have been Hoeven too- his direct line to GOD to plant that oil there... Thank you Hoeven... Yup- we couldn't have done it without YOU! "
