10 years ago (1998):MOTT - Richardton-Taylor cruised past Mott in Class B football 47-13.

Mike Staudinger and Dustin Hueske scored two touchdowns each for the Raiders. Hueske rushed 72 yards for one and returned a kickoff 76 yards for another. Ben Beyer scored from 16 yards out, while Nicholas Dressler and Derick Hoerner also ran for a touchdown each. Brian Zimmerman threw for two conversions. Zimmerman added 183 yards rushing on seven carries.

For Mott, Nick Gard scored from 24 yards out and Nathan Rogers added a 29-yard touchdown run. Gard ran 11 times for 120 yards.

20 years ago (1988): Bismarck State poured it on in the last two games to defeat Lake Region of Devils Lake 11-15, 15-3, 10-15, 15-1, 15-3 in junior college volleyball action.

Laura Tveter had eight aces, four kills, two blocks and 21 digs, while Penny Erickson added 13 kills and seven blocks to pace the Mystics. Anne Feeney added nine kills.

Sandy Rokusek, Berta Scott and Erickson each tallied 19 digs, while Scott dished out 14 assists and Karen Alvers contributed seven.

50 years ago (1958): Bismarck's high flying Demons can assure themselves of a tie and virtually wrap up the Western Division race if they can get by Mandan's Braves.

"We're probably the best scouted team in the history of North Dakota football as far as Mandan is concerned," coach Woody Wilson said.

Rich Olthoff will be ready to go again, and Gene Werre is expected to be ready. Vern Hagen hurt his side last week, but will be ready for Mandan.

Roger Sundahl, Wally Wood and George Freeman played well last week against Dickinson, as did Larry Schmitke.

St. Mary's hosts Minot, but will be without George Welder, Dick Geiger, Tom Hall and Tommy McDonald.

Saints coach Dave O'Brien singled out Walt Whittier, Gary Sukut and Ron Erdmann for outstanding performances as Williston beat St. Mary's last week.
