On the Sunday before Halloween, members of the Mandan Dacotah Lions Club and the Mandan Leo Club will canvass the city of Mandan to collect used eyeglasses, used cell phones and used hearing aids.

The group will meet at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Mandan Band Shell to prepare for the canvassing.

"Trick or treating" for eyeglasses will involve many of the 60 students of this year's newly-formed Leo Club participating for the first time in this community service activity. After the event, hot apple cider and cookies will be served to the group at 5 p.m.

Plans call for covering much of Mandan to collect items. Those whose area is not reached may drop off used eyeglasses, hearing aids and cell phones at the Mandan Senior Center in north Mandan, at Library Square, Wells Fargo Bank, Central Market, the Mandan Morton Public Library or at the counseling office at Mandan High School.
