'Freedom Salute' slated for soldiers

JAMESTOWN (AP) - Members of the North Dakota National Guard's 817th Engineer Company are to honored Sunday in Jamestown.

Governor John Hoeven, Congressman Earl Pomeroy, Senator Byron Dorgan and Guard commander Dave Sprynczynatyk are to be on hand at the "Freedom Salute" ceremony at 1 p.m. at the Jamestown Civic Center.

The unit's 104 soldiers returned in June from a yearlong deployment to Iraq. The 817th conducted more than 575 patrols for explosives.
