United Tribes International PowwowUnited Tribes will host the annual International Powwow on Sept. 4-7 on the United Tribes College Campus. On Thursday the powwow will kick off with a grand entry at 7 p.m.
Medora Badlands Trail Run
The North Dakota Badlands features beautiful scenic trails. For the third year, there will be a Medora Badlands Trail Walk or Run through this scenic area. Participants can join either the 5 or 10 kilometer events and have the choice to walk or run on Sept. 6 in Medora.
The event will begin at the Tjaden Terrace at 9:30 p.m. MDT and will cover portions of the Maah Daah Hey Trail. Registration costs $30. For more information, go to www.medora.com.
Bar-b-Que from the Heart
The first annual Bar-b-Que from the Heart will take place on Sept. 12-13 at the Dickinson Recreation Center. This event is sanctioned by Gov. John Hoeven as a statewide barbecue contest for North Dakota. Rib makers of all skill levels are welcome to compete. For more information, call 701-260-8133.
Papa's Pumpkin Patch
Papa's Pumpkin Patch will once again open their doors to celebrate the new fall season. Papa's Pumpkin Patch has expanded to not only provide large jack-o-lantern pumpkins, but also a fun and activity-filled community hot spot. The patch will open for business on Sept. 14 and will be open until Oct. 12. Some of this years activities include life size read-along stories, a hay bale maze, pony rides, Papa's Barnyard, pumpkin houses, Sebastian's train ride, hay rides and many photo opportunities. Papa's Pumpkin Patch will be open daily from noon to 7 p.m.
Souris Valley Grape and Garlic Festival
On Sept. 20, North Dakota-made wines will be featured at a festival in Minot. There will be all-day entertainment and stage acts along with education lessors on garlic, wine and grapes. For more information, call 701-838-2901.
Norsk Hostfest
The Norsk Hostfest is the largest Scandinavian festival in North America. This year's celebration will feature Scandinavian craftspeople, artists, dancers, authentic food and even the famous Beach Boys. The five-day event will begin on Sept. 30 at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds in Minot and will end on Oct. 4.
Living Masterpieces
On Saturday, Sept. 13, the Dakota Stage will host a fundraiser in which 20 famous works of art are brought to life through the work of actors, background artists, costumers and makeup artists. The event will cost $35 per person, with discounts for groups of eight or more, and will be held at the High Prairie Arts and Science Complex on 1810 Schafer St. from 7 to 9 p.m.
The event will feature the living art exhibit, a raffle, silent auction, dessert bar and local celebrity curators. Black tie dress is optional. All proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Dakota Stage and Shade Tree Players.
Sept 28 - "Mostly Mozart"
On Sept. 28 at 3 p.m., the Missouri Valley Chamber Orchestra will have its first performance of the year. This particular concert will feature "Mostly Mozart" and will include the following pieces: Overture to Don Giovanni, K. 527; "Nannerl" Divertimento No. 11 in D; Hebrides Overture "Fingals Cave" Op. 26, Mendelssohn; Paganini Concerto No. 1 for Violin, Laura Prokopyk, at Shepherd of the Valley Church, 801 E. Denver Ave.
