WILLISTON (AP) - The new Williams County Law Enforcement Center is nearing completion, with the exterior of the 79,000-square-foot, 112-bed facility nearly finished and inside work progressing nicely, officials say.Sheriff's Lt. Craig Rooks said it is not known exactly when the work will be done, because some needed materials have been delayed. However, "It's going along like it's supposed to be going," he said.
The new facility will more than triple the capacity of the old building. The $16 million center is being funded by a half-cent sales tax that was approved by voters in November 2006. Ground was broken in April 2007.
The center will house the jail, sheriff's department, Williston Police Department, and regional offices of the North Dakota Highway Patrol and state Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
