Medora - An opening night of an art exhibit featuring Einar Olstad will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the new interpretive center at the Chateau de Mores State Historic Site in Medora. Olstad, who lived from 1878-1955, was inspired by the ranch life of the Dakota Badlands in his paintings. Objects relating to ranch life in the 1930s will be on display also. The exhibit will remain on display through Sept. 15.

Bowman - The Bowman County Community Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the city park and folks are asked to bring their own lawn chairs. The band will also perform at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Chuckwagon Plaza in Medora and again at 7 p.m. at the Medora Musical Welcome Center.

Linton - The Emmons County Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Emmons County Courthouse commission chambers on an ordinance that would regulate the siting, construction and operation of wind farms in the county. The ordinance is available for review at the county auditor's office in Linton.

Golden Valley County - The Golden Valley County Commission has enacted a burn ban in the county, restricting travel to surfaced roads only, except for agriculture, and requiring industrial and agricultural operations to carry fire extinguishers on board. The ban excludes any open fires and smoking anywhere outside. The ban is in effect until further notice.
