Home Depot will soon close its doors for good in Bismarck leaving behind a 102,700-square-foot building with a 25,700-square-foot garden center. The property is for sale, listed at more than $10 million.
The building sits on a 10.84 acre lot and was built in 2004.
The north end of Bismarck has seen strong commercial growth. What kind of business would you like to see in that location? Leave us a comment and let us know.

Or a club! Someone pitched that idea...a place for the 21+ on weekends, and 18+ on the other days...that'd be a lot of fun!
Or definitely a bowling alley...I get sick of driving to Mandan.:p "

THE JS BLDG on CENTURY: Could be set up to assist those who suffer from mental illness.

OK...Here's attempt #4 to post this question.
On Friday night KFYR-TV reported that Los Amigos restaurant is planning to close it's doors soon and will be replaced by a CVS Pharmacy in that location. I have yet to see anything about this in the Tribune, or anywhere else for that matter. Do you have any information regarding this report? It's not that tough of a question. "

Ya'll would love Fleet Farm. It would put pressure on Wal Mart, Scheels, and a few stores to keep prices lower. "

Think twice about a Gander Mtn., Dicks sporting goods or Cabelas. Not much difference in price. I actually will drive to Mankato to go to the Scheels store!
Chuck E Cheese? Have you every been to one? You've got kids from 19 to walkers running amok, screaming, swearing, waiting in line to waste your money on games at an alarming rate. If your looking for something to do, pull out a deck of cards and teach your kids poker, crazy 8, pinnocle, or play a board game. They will enjoy that way more than bad pizza at chuck e cheese. You'll go 3 times and never go back.
Costco? just go to sams, it's the same thing. buy into a membership and buy in huge bulk sometimes more expensive than buying at walgreens.
I doubt any grocery chain store will survive, especially a "green" store. Way to much change and out of the comfort zone.
Good Luck Bis/Mdn If HD couldn't make it, another chain store will look real hard before investing. I personally think super target would do good there but its to bad super wal-mart has you all sucked in. Fleet farm would do you good. when we used to live there we would drive to fargo for christmas gifts when their toyland opened up. there is everything from home-shoes-clothes-office-hunting-auto-toys and some groceries. This type of store would indeed give Kmart a boost in the city, but it cannot be located so close to a Wal-Mart Supercenter or it would be a colossal failure. What this city really needs is a discount retailer to build on the west side, near Pinehurst Square. There isnt anything in that area to buy your everyday merchandise, and it would also be the first store of that type for those coming in from Mandan.
Heres the big question though, if Sears and Kmart were to combine into one store, who would fill their former locations? We would then have TWO large format locations open instead of one, including one very old and outdated former Kmart building that was constructed in 1971 and has seen little change since. "

Im not sure what everyones fixation with Super Target is, they are not nearly as good as Super Wal-Mart. I lived in Targets home turf of Minneapolis for nearly four years, where there seems to be a Super Target on every corner, and I would avoid them at all cost. They dont have nearly the selection of a Super Wal-Mart. Further more, why would Target relocate after just building a new store? Target has a huge location advantage, so there is no reason for them to relocate just a few blocks away from a Wal-Mart Supercenter. FYI Super Targets arent even open 24 hours!
I see many who say turn it into an amusement center of some sort, much like the old Wheel-A-While we once had. I dont foresee the teens of this era spending any time in that sort of complex. With all the surrounding retail and restaurants, it would make sense that whomever moves into the building would be in the same line, or else it could negatively affecting the surrounding businesses, who rely on a steady stream on traffic for survival.
Ive seen some mention large retailers like IKEA and Costco, which are fine stores, however the building simply isnt large enough, especially not for an IKEA. This city isnt large enough to support that large of a high-end retailer like Macys, Bloomingdales, or Nordstrom either. "

I would also vote for a Children's Place. Maybe a Children's mini-mall in that store would be a good idea. I can just see the minivans lined up outside now.
One other idea would be a large indoor playground that could be easily powerwashed. The few indoor playgrounds we have now are always so dirty and poorly maintained that I rarely take my small children there in the winter. If I knew a place was sanitized /powerwashed every night, I'd be way more apt to take my kids there, and pay a fair price to get in. "

As for me. I wish for a Trader Joe's. Awesome place to shop for food, wine, and items not usually found in this area. The building is probably to large unless it was partnered with another business of sorts. "

Or....how about an old-fashioned roller-rink??! Something that kids can go and hang out at....rollerskating, pinball, music, food, video games......geez, there's no place for our teens to hang out at, except the mall. whoo hoo..... I realize the pricetag is astronomical but if the city were to pitch in too??? Hmm, juvenile crime would decrease I bet. "

Honestly- a Super Target would be the bomb! I love Target, but hate how difficult the store is to access now.
Costco could put Sam's out of business in this town too- would love to see that!
I think this part of town would be a better location for a warehouse store anyway. "
