Alice Cooper, whose heavy metal career has spanned four decades, is coming to Bismarck to perform.

Cooper will play at the Bismarck Civic Center at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 5. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. July 21.

The concert will be announced today along with ticket prices. It will be held in the Starlite Theater in the Civic Center, which holds 3,000 seats.

The 60-year-old rocker last performed in Bismarck in 1987 on his "The Nightmare Returns" tour.

The tour is a part of the release of Cooper's 25th album, "Along Came A Spider," to be released on July 29.

Cooper will come to Bismarck following his performance at Sturgis, the annual South Dakota motorcycle rally, on Aug. 3.

Born Vincent Furnier in 1948, Cooper entered mainstream music in 1971 with the The Alice Cooper groups' breakout hit "I'm Eighteen" from the album "Love it to Death."

Other popular tunes include the 1972 hit "School's Out," "Feed My Frankenstein," "Poison" and "Billion Dollar Babies."

Besides an extensive musical career, Cooper has appeared in numerous films including "Wayne's World" and horror movies such as the Freddy and Jason franchises.

Cooper also is a golf enthusiast, a restaurateur and hosts his own radio classic rock show "Nights with Alice Cooper," which can be heard Monday through Friday nights on affliate supported stations.
