Trivia answer

From 1D: The Celtics and the Lakers have gone the distance four times. Boston won in seven games in 1962, 1966, 1969 and 1984. The Celtics won the first eight championship series matchups before the Lakers ended the streak in 1985.

10 years ago (1998):The weather at Municipal Ballpark - temperatures in the low 50s and light drizzle - was strictly preseason.

But pitchers Jesse Schuchard of the Bismarck Governors and Jon Arenz of the Mandan Chiefs were in mid-season form as the teams clashed for the first time this season.

Mandan sagged momentarily in the fifth inning and Schuchard emerged with a 2-0 victory. The Bismarck hurler scattered seven hits, walked one and struck out two to win for the third time in four decisions. Arenz, meanwhile, allowed three hits, walked five and struck out, but was victimized by two errors in Bismarck's two-run fifth.

20 years ago (1988): WATFORDCITY - Long-time Watford City wrestling coach Frank Fish is leaving the sport after 23 years.

Fish, a Mandan native, led the Wolves to a 264-53-3 dual record and three state championships (1972, 1973 and 1974). Watford City also placed second five times and third four times.

Fish was twice named Class B coach of the year.

50 years ago (1958): Mandan High School filled two coaching vacancies.

Conrad Juelke was hired to lead the football program, while William McGarvey will take over the track and field reins.

Juelke served as an assistant basketball and track coach at Mandan the past three years. McGarvey coached football, basketball and track teams at Linton, leading all three to South Central Conference titles the past year. His last two track teams won state Class B titles.
