Food, music and more than 500 classic cars will flood Main Street in Mandan on Sunday for the annual Buggies-n-Blues classic car show. There are other activities throughout the weekend.

"It is a family event," Vern Cermak, Buggies-n-Blues co-chair, said.

The 15th annual event begins on Friday with the Classtiques Rod and Custom Rod Run on the "Strip" beginning at Riverwood RV. The Classtiques and Custom Club also is hosting the Show-n-Shine at Scotty's Drive In from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Saturday will be filled with music at Dykshoorn Park. The blues band Broken Bricks will perform from 4 to 7 p.m. The parade of classics will begin at 8 p.m on Main Street. Those in the parade will meet at the Mandan Community Center at 7:30 p.m. After the parade, the music will start up again with The Front Fenders, who will perform until 12:30 a.m. The Saturday Night Rock-n-Roll costs 99 cents for adult admission.

"The price is right," Cermak said. "What you want to spend decides what you want to purchase."

Other Saturday events include a sidewalk sale put on by Mandan merchants on Main. The Crank It Up Stereo Competition will be at KTM Cycle Hutt. Buggies-n-Blooms will be at Classic Yard and Garden on Mandan Avenue, and Classic Excitement will begin at 10 a.m. and go until 2 p.m. at Schwan GM Auto Center on the "Strip." There also is a demolition derby at 7:30 p.m. at Dacotah Speedway.

The main event, the Classic Car Show will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday on Main Street. The show will contain 500 vehicles 1979 and older as well as custom cars.

Other entertainment during the show will be music by Fuzz and the Guns and Levee in Dykshoorn Park, concessions and a beer garden. The car show will go until 5 p.m. Parking on Main Street will not be available until 9 a.m.

"Looking at the old cars brings back memories," Cermak said.

This year, Buggies-n-Blues is featuring the world's oldest known Corvette. The 1953 Corvette is owned by Dave Ressler.

The Classic Car Show is not the only event on Sunday. A stunt motorcycle rider will perform at 1 p.m. east of the former Mandan Depot. A motorcycle display from 10 a.m.to 3 p.m. at KTM Cycle Hutt on the "Strip."

Activities on Main include Game Time at 1 p.m., 15-20 semitrucks on display along side the classic cars, and a swap meet and JT inflatables for the kids.

This year there will be miniature Buggies-n-Blues cars at F&FSales, where a one of a kind Buggies-n-Blues car will be given away.

And there will be Black Hawk helicopters at the Mandan airport. There will be breakfast at the airport from 8 to 11 a.m. Shuttle buses will be provided for transportation to the airport. They will leave from the parking lot by the Mandan library.

" Good job Mandan on organizing and promoting such a great event. The best
Bismarck can do is some over-priced two-bit carnival, at the Civic Center what a joke. "
