Two attend

Nancy Meronuck, RN, and Ellen Schafer, RN, both employed with St. Alexius Medical Center, attended the Nursing in Washington, D.C., Internship Program. Meronuck represented the perianesthesia nurses and is on the governmental affairs board and Schafer represented the Oncology Nurses Society and is the State Health Policy Liaison.

While there, they met with congressmen and discussed several nursing issues.

Award acheived

Sharon Clausnitzer, personal banker at US Bank, has received a Star of Excellence Award. This is an annual award given to personal and universal bankers who achieve sales goals in all four quarters of the year. She is a banker at US Bank's Bismarck office and has been with US Bank for five years.

Program completed

Jay Haley, a partner and wind energy consultant with EAPC Architects Engineers, successfully completed the WAsP Certification Examination in Roskilde, Denmark. There are less than 100 certified users worldwide, with only six certified users in the United States. WAsP, which stands for Wind Atlas Analysis and Application Program, is a software program for modeling and predicting wind flow over terrain.

Herzing joins

Kelly Herzing has joined the offices of Warren, Benning & Glass Financial Services. She is a licensed sales assistant to Ryan Benning and brings more than five years of office and financial investment experience.



Seminar attended

Samantha Glass, a residential lighting specialist with One Source Lighting of Bismarck, recently participated in American Lighting Association sponsored educational seminars held at the World Trade Center in Dallas as part of the 2008 Dallas International Lighting Market.

Two hired

Midwest Business Systems has added Lonnie Berg and Jeff Sedler to its team.

Sedler is a digital support specialist possessing with more than 10 years of experience and an associate's degree in electronics from the North Dakota State College of Science.

Berg is a digital solutions specialist contributing more than 19 years of experience, with bachelor degrees in accounting and management from Minot State University.

Knodel elected

Linda J. Knodel, FACHE, senior vice president/CNO, St. Alexius Medical Center, has been elected to serve on the board of governors of the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society of more than 30,000 healthcare executives.

She will serve a three-year term representing ACHE affiliates on ACHE's board of governors, the authority that oversees ACHE operations and member services.

Brown hired

BlackRidge Bank Bismarck loan office has hired Karen Brown as assistant vice president of loan administration. Brown has seven years of banking experience and will manage the loan administration, loan review and compliance areas for the office. She also has a bachelor's degree from Dickinson State University in accounting and business administration.

Workshop attended

Shane Frank of the Bismarck Famous Dave's barbecue restaurant attended a national Famous Dave's training seminar and workshop in Minneapolis, which was attended by more than 125 Famous Dave's general managers and area directors across the country.

Three promoted

Three North Dakota Department of Transportation employees: Mark Gaydos, Roger Weigel and Glenn Jackson, recently were named to new positions.

Gaydos has been selected to be director of environmental and transportation services. Gaydos has worked in several areas at the NDDOT for 24 years, including design, construction and technical services.

Weigel has been named director of the design division. Weigel has worked with the NDDOT for more than 27 years, including prior experience in the planning and program dvision, bridge division, construction division and in the design division.

Jackson has been selected as the director of the motor vehicle division. Jackson has been working with the NDDOT since December 2006 as a business operations manager in the motor vehicle division.

Class attended

LeAnna Clark, LaTrisha VanWey, Robyn Kuetemeyer, Cari Skyefte and Kim Dutchuk all from Modern Hair Works attended a Paul Mitchell advanced color class in the salon to keep up with the upcoming color techniques.

Spencer named

Wendy Spencer has been named vice president of the Lewis & Clark Fort Mandan Foundation. Spencer, who has been employed the past seven years at the foundation, has been the visitor services manager. Prior to joining the foundation in 2001, she had worked in the retail sector.

New management

Mandan Equipment announced management changes in its Mandan and newly acquired Garrison locations. Chad Richter was named general manager of Mandan and Osten Richter is the general manager of Garrison Equipment. In addition, Ron Leingang and Bob Bichler have been named parts department co-managers. Leingang and Bichler have more than 35 years of experience in parts.

Two hired

Ressler Chevrolet recently added Bruce Joersz and Daniel Lee to its sales staff.

Joersz was the owner and manager of Marv's Hardware, and Lee is a graduate of Colorado University who spent the last two years selling cars for Perkins Dodge.

Doctor honored

Dr. Steve Hamar of St. Alexius Medical Center has received the first Benedictine Spirit Award. The award recognizes a physician who exemplifies a compassionate spirit of medicine as well as a vision for St. Alexius Medical Center. He received the award on Wednesday.
