10 years ago (1998):BILLINGS, Mont. - The Billings Bulls got to the Bismarck Bobcats early.

Billings scored the first three goals of the game and the Bobcats could never catch up as the Bulls beat Bismarck 6-3 in the American Frontier Hockey League playoffs.

Billings holds a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 playoff series.

The Bobcats came back in the second period, making it 3-2 on goals by Brian Yingling and Damon Janillo.

Then the Bobcats made it 4-3 with a goal from Bill Cummings.

20 years ago (1988): MINOT - Two Bismarck teams met for the Commercial I crown in the North Dakota Amateur Basketball Tournament.

Elbow Room defeated Sunset Superstop 109-88.

Former University of Mary player Kevin Olson scored 32 points to lead Elbow Room.

Dave Smart and Rick Dressler each scored 24 points for Sunset.

Dressler was named most valuable player in the division.

50 years ago (1958): A field of 44 hopefuls was cut to 12 in the North Dakota State Amateur Tournament, with eight more scheduled to be eliminated.

Covered Wagon, one of the two remaining Bismarck hopefuls after Provident Life had been eliminated, was taken out by the Fargo YMCA.

Clark paced the Wagon with 24 points and Phil and Darryl Ruud each had 10 for the YMCA.

The Bismarck Tribune beat Fargo Toggery as Bob George paced the winners with 22 points. Franke had 25 for the losers.

Sweeney Brothers outpaced Dinsdale's of Dickinson. Reitan had 19 for Sweeney's and Ted Uecher netted 25 for Dickinson.

Grain Belt led Valley City Legion at the half, but couldn't' retain the advantage. Cederberg had 20 for Valley City, Campbell netted 18 for Grain Belt.
