MINOT (AP) - The state Transportation Department has begun condemning three properties as part of acquiring land for a north Minot street project planned this summer.

The affected land includes restaurant property, pawn shop property and vacant land behind a bar. No buildings are involved in the eminent domain proceedings for the North Broadway project.

A transportation department spokesman says disagreement over price is part of the reason for the condemnation proceedings. A judge or a jury eventually will determine whether the payment offers are adequate.

The state has reached price agreements with landowners on other property needed for the road project. Bid letting is set for February 15.
