A woman in a Chevrolet Avalanche drove into DiDonna’s Italian Restaurant this morning just seconds after the restaurant’s owner had walked away from that spot — the building’s northwest corner where the restaurant’s favorite booth is located.

The driver was unconscious when medical help arrived and was taken to a local hospital, said Bismarck Police Sgt. Dean Dassinger today.

The vehicle, which ended up half-in half-out out of the building, caused about $80,000 to $100,000 damage, said the building’s owner Lee Mitzel.

No one else besides the driver was hurt. The restaurant would have opened up about 10 minutes later at 11 a.m.,.and the area affected typically has about 30 people in it during the lunch hour, said Gregorio DiDonna.
