Hettinger - A night to recognize Bob Kudrna, who is retiring after 10 years with the Adams County Development Corp., will be held during the weekly burgers and brats downtown from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Centennial Square in Hettinger.

Medora - Badlands Ministries will hold its 27th annual Fall Event on Sept. 16 at the Medora Community Center, starting with 11 a.m. worship, followed by a noon chicken barbecue and an afternoon quilt auction, country store and lefse sale. Proceeds go to benefit the camp.

Bowman - The fifth annual Rural Women in America, Sept. 14 and Sept. 15 at the Four Seasons Pavilion in Bowman, will feature rural North Dakota book author Roxanne Henke and Twin Cities comedienne Mary Rowles, along with a number of workshops on everything from decorating to essential oils. Hettinger County - Hettinger County observed its 100th anniversary this year, and a project is under way to recognize centennial farms, those being farms in the Hettinger County and New England area and in the same family for 100 years or longer. Tappen - The final farmers market of the season will be held from 9 a.m. to sellout Saturday at the Tappen Ball Field. Wishek - A special election will be held Sept. 10 in Wishek for voters to decide whether to allow the city to develop real estate for a housing subdivision and to raise a 1-cent sales tax for 10 years to pay the development costs. Polling will be at city hall from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Anyone who wants to see the ballot measures can go to city hall.

Ashley - An informational meeting on Ashley's proposed renaissance zone project will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Dakota Family Restaurant in Ashley. The public is invited to attend.

Alexander - The 62nd annual Old Settlers' Day celebration will be held Thursday through Saturday in Alexander, including a chili cook-off from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday and the arrival of the Long X Wagon Train. Saturday's events include a noon barbecue in the park, followed by a program at 1 p.m. by the Tom Dwyer family. A bull riding Calcutta will be held at the arena at 2:30 p.m.

Watford City - The 54th annual North Dakota Rodeo Association championship finals will be held Sept. 7-8 at the multipurpose building on the McKenzie County Fairgrounds in Watford City. For information, call 444-2804.
