Bismarck High School filled a pair of coaching vacancies on Wednesday, hiring Mike Bichler to guide the girls golf team and JustinZainhofsky to run the boys tennis program.Bichler replaces Dean Johs, who coached the BHS girls the past six seasons.Bichler already is a familiar face to BHS golfers, having spent the past two years coaching the boys team, which he will continue to do.
A Linton native, Bichler graduated from Dickinson State University in 2002. Bichler was the golf coach at New Salem from 2002 to 2004 and was an assistant with the Century High School boys team in 2005. He has worked at Riverwood Golf Course since 1999.
Bichler also teaches science at BHS.
Zainhofsky succeeds Janet Olson, as the BHS boys tennis coach. Olson led the squad the past three seasons.
A Bismarck native, Zainhofsky graduated from BHS in 1996. He played tennis and golf for the Demons.
Zainhofsky went on to play for the University of Mary tennis team. He graduated from U-Mary in 2006 with a degree in secondary education history and social and behavorial sciences.
Zainhofsky was a coach for the U-Mary men's and women's tennis programs the past three years. He has also served as St. Mary's assistant boys golf coach for two years.
