Three win awards
Two local U.S. Bank employees have won U.S. Bank's annual Pinnacle award, which represents the top 10 percent of U.S. Bank employees in their line of business. Nate Palczewski, branch manager for north Bismarck, and Barb Foss, branch manager for Beulah, were both recipients of the award. In addition, Palczewski was honored for being among the top 1 percent of all U.S. Bank branch managers companywide.
Sharon Clausnitzer, personal banker at U.S. Bank, has received a 2006 Star of Excellence award. This is an annual award given to personal and universal bankers who achieve sales goals in all four quarters of the year.
Two graduate
Craig Hansen and Joe Hillerson, Realtors at Coldwell Banker Realty Group, recently completed two Graduate Realtor Institute courses, which focused on enhancing skills in every aspect of listing and selling properties plus business planning, technology and ethics.
The institute educates Realtors about current topics important to a real estate professional, enabling them to better serve prospective clients and customers
Pytlik named
Mick Pytlik, current North Dakota University System ConnectND financial system director, has been named executive director of the NDUS ConnectND system. He will assume his new responsibilities May 1. Pytlik has been a University System employee since 1988, first as an accountant and lecturer at Valley City State University in Valley City and then in financial system positions for the NDUS.
Oksendahl hired
Jenny Oksendahl recently joined the Cedric Theel Dodge Toyota Scion sales team. Oksendahl is a Bismarck native and has been involved in the car business and customer service in the past.

Lila Marquart, environmental specialist at Western Plains Consulting Inc., attended the National Environmental Information Association Conference in Charlotte, N.C., the week of March 19. Marquart received training on the latest developments in mold, Legionella and nano-particle sampling, as well as new global safety standards for contaminant exposure.
Lance Loken, president of Western Plains Consulting Inc., also attended the National Environmental Information Association Conference. Loken served as moderator and roundtable chair at sessions on national implementation of the new environmental assessment standards and EPA's all appropriate inquiry requirements for property due diligence. He also received training on the latest developments in asbestos and lead-based paint, including EPA activities in North Dakota.

Basin Electric Power Cooperative has named Brian Matthews to the position of senior information services and telecommunications training coordinator at its headquarters building in Bismarck. He began his new duties on April 9 at the cooperative.
Matthews, a native of Mandan, was formerly employed as webmaster for Job Service North Dakota in Bismarck.

Brad Volk has been hired as a diesel tech for Butler Machinery Co. Volk was previously a mechanic for the city of Bismarck, as well as at Modern Machine Works.

Kathleen Mangskau, of KM Consulting of Bismarck, received the North Dakota Public Health Association Outstanding Service award at the annual Dakota Conference on Rural and Public Health on March 21.
This award honors an individual who has exhibited continued excellence in the field of public health.
Mangskau is a registered dental hygienist and the former director of the North Dakota Oral Health Program.
Miller promoted
Tom Miller, systems administrator at MDU Resources Group Inc., was promoted to senior systems administrator at the corporation. The promotion reflects his contributions to the company and his increasing levels of responsibility.
Miller began his career with MDU Resources in 1981 as a computer operator. Since then, he has advanced to computer programmer, systems analyst, senior systems analyst and most recently attained the position of systems administrator. Prior to his employment with MDU Resources, Miller worked as store manager for the Singer Co. in Aberdeen, S.D.
Kary promoted
John Kary, formerly co-creative director of United Printing, was recently promoted to art director. He will oversee the art department in addition to his former duties, including designing projects and working closely with customers and sales staff. Kary has been employed by United Printing since February 2005. He previously worked as a prepress supervisor for the Bismarck Tribune. Kary also has experience as a scanning technician and graphic designer.

Eric Nykanen has been hired as human resources manager at MDU Resources Group Inc.
In his new role, Nykanen will be responsible for the development and implementation of corporate human resources programs by providing functional expertise in support of the corporation's and business units' strategic objectives. Nancy Spilde, RN, CURN, program coordinator of the Mid Dakota Clinic Continence Management Program, was recently presented with the Excellence in Practice nursing award at the All Nursing Conference in Bismarck. Spilde is a registered nurse who has worked in women's health for nearly 30 years. She is board-certified in urology nursing and has certification in urodynamic testing.

Gene States joined the Applied Engineering team as an application developer. In his new position, he will begin providing computer services in the Bismarck area under the supervision of Ron Klose.
States has his bachelor of science degree in computer science from the University of Texas at Dallas in Richardson, Texas. He was previously with National Electronic Warranty in Rapid City, S.D., where he worked in customer service.
