What's 38 and still growing?

The Bismarck Tribune Sport Show, which opens its 38th run today and wraps up Sunday at the Bismarck Civic Center.

Hours are 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

More seminars are just one of the highlights this year. There will be 15, three more than in recent years because the Birch-Cottonwood rooms have become a third venue for the presentations.

And the presenters range from longtime Sport Show favorites such as bird-dog trainer Terry Bush and his wife and partner, Carrie, to the Ultimate Outdoor Adventure trio of John Arman, Kurt Schirado and Jason Wright. The Bushes and the UOA team will do two seminars apiece.

Professional walleye angler Scott Fairbairn will bring back his expertise for two seminars. He finished second in the 2006 Professional Walleye Trail Championship in Bismarck-Mandan.

Other seminar topics range from geocaching and mountain biking the Maah Daah Hey Trail to the 2007 Farm Bill and mountain lions.

Also on the schedule are two seminars on off-highway vehicles, including one on certification for kids 12 to 16 who want to ride but don't have a driver's license. Included will be the certification test, which has a $10 fee.

If you ever wanted to try to snag a paddlefish but were afraid to try, there's a seminar to introduce anglers to snagging paddlefish.

And, if you're not quite sure how to cook the game you bring home, how about a wild-game cooking lesson?

And there is an opportunity to get a whole new perspective on fishing from professional bass angler Clay Dyer.

Born without legs or a left arm and only a stump for a right arm, Dyer fishes the FLW professional bass tour. He will speak at 3:30 p.m. Saturday on "Living a Dream."

As a bonus, a "Meet the Bobcats" get-together at 2:30 p.m. Saturday will allow fans to meet members of Bismarck's junior hockey team.

Two dozen new exhibitors include Reed's Family Outdoor Outfitters, based in western Minnesota.

A Reed's crew is bringing its No. 1 truck that carries more than a $1million inventory, which consists of rods, reels, new electronics from handhelds to boat accessories and plenty of other accessories.

Runnings Fleet and Farm also will have a display of sporting goods on exhibit.

And there will be the usual assortment of recreational vehicles, fishing, pleasure and pontoon boats, snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles on display.

And the youngsters certainly won't be left out. The trout pond, where kids hope to hook a trout with kernels of corn, will be back.

The Dakota Zoo is bringing games, and the Army is bringing its Adventure Van, an interactive exhibit of the Army's state-of-the-art technology.
