10 years ago (1997):FARGO - The Dakota Wizards are enjoying life on the road in the International Basketball Association. They did it again, holding off the rallying Fargo-Moorhead Beez in chalking up a nail-biting 108-106 victory at the Civic Auditorium. "Any win on the road is great in the IBA," Dakota coach Jay Garmatz said after improving to 9-5 and solidifying their hold on second place behind the 12-4 Black Hills Posse, who beat the Magic City Snowbears 108-85. The Wizards, who have won for straight road games, had a strong first half in building a 16-point lead. Bit they let most of that slip away after intermission.

20 years ago (1987): When considering the District 15 race in preseason chatter, coaches were pointing to Carrington ... and McClusky ... and Sykeston ... and Harvey, a newcomer to the Class B ranks this year. "They figured on us, Fesenden and Bowdon to round it out," said Kevin Rogers, Goodrich coach. But look what's happened. Rogers has his Panthers sitting at 5-0 after beating Driscoll in the opening round of the Goodrich Invitational.

50 years ago (1957): ELLENDALE - Bismarck Junior College got a large dose of Bob Morehouse - 37 points to be exact - and got tumbled in an overtime thriller here 89-81, as the Ellendale Normal Dusties pushed in nine of 10 free throws in the extra session. It left the BJC record in the NDIC at 2-3 while the Dusties now have a 3-1 mark. The Mystics built up a 40-33 halftime lead with a hot first period in which they hit 14 of 23 field goal attempts. Morehouse only tried five shots. But the Dusties rose up in the second half. With 1:16 left, Craig DeLaBarre popped in a two-pointer and Don Prouty squared the score at 76-all with five seconds remaining on a jump shot.
