SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Ethanol-fueled airplanes are on the program for an air show at the Sioux Falls Regional Airport July 22-23.

The Vanguard Squadron of Sioux Falls is a four-plane formation group that flies in air shows across the country. Their planes, built in 1983, run on 100 percent ethanol instead of regular gas, said Steve Thompson, pilot for the Vanguards.

"It runs clean and really well," he said. "They are just fun to fly."

Ethanol Promotions Information Council, formed to promote the corn-based fuel nationally, is a sponsor, Thompson said.

EPIC also sponsors Indy car driver Jeff Simmons.
